Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent to the outside provider that operates that feature. The provider processes the query and supplies its response. We do not retain or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
A message sent directly to us may be kept long enough to address it and maintain the related correspondence. We do not disclose that message beyond our organization unless the law requires disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a site page loads, server and analytics systems may receive routine technical information about the visit:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring site, when one is reported
- Device type and operating system
- Internet Protocol address
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them
- Browser name and version
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved on a device. We and our analytics services may use them to measure traffic patterns, popular pages, and points where visits end. Browser controls can block or remove cookies, although doing so may change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Diagnosing faults and other technical problems
- Operating the site and maintaining its performance
- Measuring which pages serve visitors effectively
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
- Routing a search submission to the provider selected by the user
No Criminal-Record Data on File
La Salle County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Its content identifies official routes such as the La Salle County Sheriff, the combined County/District Clerk, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or dossiers about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies run the search boxes that appear on some pages. Information submitted through one of those boxes is handled under that provider's privacy policy. Each provider controls its retention, security, and disclosure practices, so its policy should be reviewed before a query is sent.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the La Salle County Open Records Portal, clerk and sheriff pages, Texas DPS resources, courts, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy terms apply. Review them before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select interest-based ads. We do not control that outside tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may be disclosed to these limited categories:
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under valid legal process
- Advertising networks that serve ads on site pages
- Search providers chosen to process a submitted query
- Analytics vendors that measure use and site performance
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are used for information under our control. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, however, and we cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such information, we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Rights over personal data depend on the law that applies to the user and the operator. Texas Government Code Chapter 552, the Texas Public Information Act, governs records held by public bodies, while Government Code Chapter 411 controls disclosure of criminal-history record information. Those government-record laws do not turn this private site into a records custodian. Subject to applicable law, a user may:
- Object to certain forms of processing
- Request deletion of eligible personal information
- Ask to correct inaccurate personal information
- Request access to personal information we hold about the requester
